We were delighted to welcome Malcolm Macnaughtan for his presentation entitled “A Land of Mountains and Floods”, referring to Scotland.
The main theme of Malcolm’s talk was to slow down the process of taking photographs and producing prints. Malcolm achieves this by using a large format camera, which takes much thought with regard to composure and exposure settings, and traditional dark-room procedures for producing black and white prints. A good selection of prints, mainly A3 size landscapes, were displayed and passed round among members for closer examination. Needless to say, these were all excellent quality.
Malcolm was keen to emphasise that the photo should not only capture the view, but also the mood and feelings experienced at the time.
Malcolm brought in his large format camera to demonstrate its use and allowed members to have a hands-on examination of it during the break.
An excellent presentation of an out of the ordinary aspect of photography.
